How My Family Boosts Their Immune System During Cold Season

*This post is sponsored by Beekeeper's Naturals

Navigating the cold season as a family presents its challenges. Despite our best efforts to stay healthy, including taking supplements, vitamins, drinking tea, exercising, and maintaining a balanced diet rich in vegetables, sometimes illness still manages to find its way into our home. In this blog article, I aim to share the strategies my family employs to bolster our immune systems during these chilly months.

Eat green vegetables

Did you know that green vegetables are rich in vitamins that help you maintain a balanced diet and support a healthy immune system?  My daughter loves broccoli but it’s not always easy to get her to eat them.  I cut them up in small pieces and added it to spaghetti sauce.  She is none the wiser! My husband and I typically consume 2-3 servings of vegetables daily, and a convenient method we employ is blending spinach into our protein smoothies.

Add a daily dose of bee propolis

Propolis is the bodyguard of the beehive.  Bees use it to line the walls of their hives to keep the germs out.  We love the Propolis Throat Spray by Beekeeper’s Naturals.  What I love about Beekeeper’s Naturals is that all of their products are made with clean ingredients, always free of artificial colors and preservatives, and third party tested to ensure they’re pesticide free, which is better for us and the bees.  We use the Propolis Throat Spray to support the immune system because it contains antioxidants, vitamin C, zinc, iron, B vitamins, and over 300 other beneficial compounds.  It also naturally contains flavonoids and polyphenols that fight free radicals and combat oxidative stress. My initial thoughts before I used the spray was that it would taste awful.  I was pleasantly surprised by its taste, which resembled that of sweet water.  During the cold season, we incorporate the spray into our daily regimen of vitamins and supplementsA few weeks ago, I had a scratchy throat and decided to use the Propolis Throat Spray to alleviate it. It worked wonders! You can find Propolis Throat Spray at Target

Regular exercise

Did you know that exercise accelerates the circulation of disease-fighting white blood cells (WBCs), which helps the body fight the common cold? My family exercises regularly, whether it's at the gym or on nightly family walks.

Wash your hands

When in public or around someone is sick, we make sure we wash our hands before touching our face.  If this is not possible, we carry hand sanitizer spray.

Get enough sleep

At the Moore house, we don’t mess around with sleep.  My daughter is in bed by 8 and my husband and I by 9.  Sleep deprivation suppresses the immune system.  Therefore, we prioritize getting sufficient rest to support our body's natural defenses against illness.

In conclusion, navigating through the cold season as a family can indeed be challenging, but it's not insurmountable. Despite our best efforts with supplements, vitamins, and healthy habits, sometimes those pesky bugs find a way into our lives. However, by incorporating a few key strategies into our routine, my family has found success in boosting our immune systems and warding off illness.

Firstly, we prioritize consuming green vegetables rich in essential vitamins that support our immune function. Finding creative ways to incorporate these veggies into meals ensures that even the pickiest eaters in our family get their daily dose of nutrients.

Additionally, we've added a daily dose of bee propolis, harnessing its natural immune-boosting properties to strengthen our defenses against illness. The pleasant taste and clean ingredients of products like Beekeeper's Naturals Propolis Throat Spray have made it a staple in our cold season arsenal.

Regular exercise, hand hygiene, and prioritizing sufficient sleep also play crucial roles in maintaining a strong immune system. By staying active, practicing good hygiene habits, and ensuring adequate rest, we create a supportive environment for our bodies to fight off illness effectively.

While there's no foolproof way to entirely avoid getting sick during the cold season, implementing these strategies has certainly helped my family stay healthier and happier throughout the year. By taking proactive steps to support our immune systems, we're better equipped to handle whatever challenges the colder months may bring. So, here's to staying well and thriving as a family, even when the temperature drops.
