5 Must Haves for Babies First Year

If there's anything you learn the first year of motherhood, it's the products you literally can't live without or are literally lifesavers. I've compiled some of the products that have helped me this past year as I stumble on the road of motherhood. Some of these items were referred by fellow moms or I straight up discovered it by trial and error. Hope you enjoy this list!

Ergobaby carrier

Need to clean the house? Grocery shop? Take a daily walk to get your body back?

Ergobaby Omni 360 Baby carrier is the best. It's newborn ready and you can use it until they are 48 months. You are also able to breastfeed while carrying. I also love the detachable pouch which is convenient when you don't want to bother with carrying a purse or wallet.

Pack n Play

I honestly didn't know what the heck these were pre-baby and it is honestly the best invention EVER. It's basically a portable bed, changing table and play area for them. When Zoe was newborn, she slept in the top portion for naps. When she got older and was able to roll over on her stomach, we took off the top portion and she slept on the bottom bed. It was also a great product to take traveling. We took it along with us to a trip to California and several staycations. There are of course many brands out there but we went with the Graco Pack 'n Play Playard and it didn't disappoint.

DOCK A TOT

I resisted this for the first two weeks. I thought that the price was outrageous and questioned if it really worked. Now I look back and it was the best $200 I ever spent. We swaddled her, placed her in the middle of the pillow boat thing and BOOM, she slept! You start with the DockATot Deluxe and when they get older than 8 months upgrade to the Grand. Fortunately, we were able to transition Zoe to the nursery by 8 months so buying the Grand was unnecessary.

COMO TOMO Bottles

Bottles were the hardest to buy. So many choices and you really don't know what you're baby will like until they try it. My friend gave me some that she didn't end up using and Zoe took to these immediately. It's a slow flow and extremely easy to clean. There were some bottles I bought from another brand where the formula would get stuck at the bottom and rot if you didn't clean it well. Comotomo Silicone Bottles did not give me that issue. I highly recommend these bottles.

Swaddle

When Zoe was born, the nurses at the hospital would swaddle the crap out of her. And they always made it look easy. Then the inexperienced parents tried to do it and it was a constant disaster. Even when we finally got home, it took several tries to get it right. And then an angel came along, my friend Veronica, and gave me a velcro swaddle ( SwaddleMe Original Swaddles are the best). It was life changing and our babe was sleeping longer!

And there you have it! I never thought I would write an article like this but I honestly wish there was more HONEST guidance out there on what really matters and what REALLY works. Hope this helps in your motherhood journey!
