Our Stay at The Westin Kierland

The summer months have been a little rough on us because we want to entertain Zoe but the heat has been brutal. We didn't want to venture out of state and wanted to stay local. We researched a few local resorts and The Westin Kierland stood out the most. We loved that it was family friendly and only 20 minutes away. I'd love to share our experience in this post.

Hotel Room

The Westin Kierland rooms have everything you expect to have. Comfy beds, flat screen tv, and a desk. But what stood out for us is the amazing tub and stand up shower. With a baby it’s important to have a tub for her and it was a plus to have a stand up shower for the adults. The rainfall shower head was super relaxing and invigorating after a day of activities. We also loved the fridge. Also important for your littles ones. We kept her baby food and pre-made bottles cool. The best part of the room was the view from our patio. It overlooked the north side of the resort which was a great view of the pristine green gold course.

Adventure Park and Cabana Life

One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was the Adventure Park. When a resort has a lazy river, I’m in! The Westin Kierland has an adult pool and the family friendly Adventure Park. I love that it is has an adult pool because the Adventure Park can get overwhelming. It can get crowded and if you're not into that, the adult pool (Aguamiel Pool) is much more serene. Now that we have a little one we try to keep her entertained and busy. We were treated to a cabana at the adult pool and walked over the Adventure Park to use the lazy river and Zoe had the time of her life. The cabana came with Fiji water, frozen grapes and chips and salsa.

Zoe was so conked out from the activities that she passed out in the cabana and took a 40 min nap. It was the cutest thing ever!!

The Food

The resort has a few dining options from casual to fine dining. We had the chance to experience their bbq poolside which was rich and tasty. In fact, we could smell the applewood smoker from our cabana right before the dinner hour and it influenced us enough to order it. Dave had the chicken and I had the pulled pork. You could definitely taste the applewood in the meat. Yum!! The next morning we had breakfast at Nellie Cashman’s Monday Club Cafe. On Sunday’s they offer a champagne brunch but we opted for the regular menu. I had my eye on the Monday Breakfast Club (Miners Parfait, Traditional Eggs Benedict*, Organic Granola Pancake Served with Berries, Greek Yogurt) and Dave had the Grilled NY Steak Steak Strip (Eggs Any Style*, Yukon Gold Potatoes, Oven Roasted Tomatoes). The service was a bit slow but the food made up for it.

Overall Thoughts

Our staycay was short so we weren't able to fit a lot in. However, we plan on visiting again because there is so much to see and do. I also wanted to mention that it's in walking distance to two great shopping centers, Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter. You're sure to have a great time at this resort and you will receive fantastic service!
