Babymooning at The Scott Resort

A few weeks ago, hubby and I were treated to a one night stay at the BEAUTIFUL The Scott Resort in Scottsdale, AZ. It was our last hurrah before baby Zoe makes her appearance, which is in fact soon (due in 10 days). EEEK, we are both excited and terrified! So we needed a weekend to unplug and The Scott Resort was the best place to do it.

The Room and Hotel

The Scott Resort was completely renovated last month and the theme is to die for. As you can see in the photos, the decor is Havana inspired. It's tropical meets modern. I can't even describe how amazing the decor is. We loved how inviting the lobby was with tons of gorgeous seating nooks and activities such as chess. The location is great and only a 10 minute walk away from the prime shopping mall, Scottsdale Fashion Square. The hotel has two pools, the main pool and a sandy beach pool. The hotel boasts several kind of views including patio, pool, courtyard and lagoon. We stayed in the patio guest room and hung out in the cozy chairs to have our morning cup of joe.

Hands down, this is the best hotel restaurant I've ever ate at. And this is coming from a former flight attendant who has been around the United States and ate at several hotel restaurants. I am a sucker for Cuban food and this one delivers but with a twist. Chef de Cuisine, Chris Castro, specializes in traditional American cuisine with a Cuban twist. The restaurant also offers a studious wine list and inspiring craft cocktails to compliment any meal. I had the tasty Beach Buck Mocktail (Blackberry, Lime, Basil, Ginger Beer). The restaurant is decorated with the colors and comforts of a 1930s Havana aesthetic.

The Food

I'm going to rant and rave about the appetizer, chef's Calamari. I've had lots of calamari in my life but this one takes the cake. It was served on a bed of saffron parmesan rice and arugula with squirts of squid ink aioli. I can't describe how delicious this tasted. Let's just say I wasn't willing to share!

Dave ordered the Gaucho Steak (Spiced Skirt Steak, Poblano, Chimichurri Sauce, Masa Potato Cakes). It was pretty delicious and that Chimichurri Sauce should be bottled for you take home. I ordered the Pollo Al Horno (Grilled Chicken Thigh, Black Beans, Rice, Petite Green Salad). It was super juicy and tasty.

Dessert

I am the kind of person that looks at the dessert list before anything else and had my eye on a couple of treats. The standout dessert that I had to have is the Churro Doughnut Holes (served with White Chocolate Anglaise, Guava Jam). Should I say more? It was a little on the rich side so I saved some to have with my morning coffee. Dave is a cheesecake lover so he ordered the Cajeta Cheesecake (Chocolate Espresso Beans, Corn Pop Crumble). It was a deconstructed cheesecake with some interesting toppings. He devoured it!

The Spa Experience

The other glorious treat I received was a prenatal massage at their boutique spa, La Vidorra. The spa offers services such as massages, facials, pedicures and manicures. The room was extra spacious (basically the size of a hotel suite) with a tub and private bathroom. I received a full body massage and pillow were placed underneath me to account for my bump. I was in heaven and I think I even fell asleep due to the pure bliss. I would definitely visit this relaxing and luxurious spa for more of their services.

Overall we had a pleasant experience and the highlight of our weekend was the food. I'm honestly going back this weekend to see if the calamari is still being served. It was that GOOD! If you have the option of staying in Scottsdale while you're in Arizona, The Scott Resort is an amazing resort that would knock your socks off. Thank you so much to The Scott Resort for having us!
